Putting it simply, this is one of the best RPG’s ever made. A link to the past is an essential purchase for any SNES owner, so much so in fact that even after 20 years it still can fetch upward of £50 for a used copy. Zelda starts with a simple premse that opens up the game and sets up the adventure. Find the treasure, kill the bad guy and save the princess. Change the sword for a lightsaber and it could describe Star Wars.

The gameplay is easy to learn and doesn’t take to long to master.  It has dungeons that combine adventure with simple to solve puzzles and enemies to fight with levels bosses that are tricky but not overly difficult. All this fits in well with a soundtrack that is timeless, infact Mexican gymnast Elsa Garcia Rodriguez Blancas used a Zelda melody in her qualification routine of the London 2012 olympics. i wonder how long before someone does the horizontal bars to the Halo theme.  This game is huge and gives the player a vast expanse to explore, the switch between a light and dark world is a great idea. it’s a nice touch that buildings in the town are reflected in the dark world but with a twist.

Nintendo should be proud of this game as it remains one of their best.
